Clash of the Trading Forums

Ever wondered what would happen if some mods from different card trading sites were to play against each other in a fantasy baseball league? Me too. So in late February, I formed a Yahoo custom 3-division "Clash of the Trading Forums" fantasy baseball league and invited mods from various sites to join the league. Two of Trader Retreat's mods have joined the league and are gearing up for Opening Day. They are:

leedawg62 (Team name is "San Antonio Sluggerz")
Showdown (Team Name is "Showdown")

Will one of the TR mods bring home the "Clash of the Trading Forums" trophy?

I don't know how regular Yahoo members can view the league but you can keep up with the league in my blog at my personal hobby website Andy Stadium (feel free to subscribe!). There you will see the other participating trading sites/mods, draft results, league standings, and comments--all season long. We even have owners of two different forums playing. We're all putting up a $25 bv auto or GU card towards the prize pool--except for one team who is also a major card dealer--Atlanta Sports Cards (a great TR sponsor!). They are putting up a $100 Atlanta Sports Cards gift certificate toward the prize pool!

We've just finished Week 1 of the Clash of the Trading Forums fantasy baseball league. Here's how our fearless TR mods did (our league uses the standard ten baseball stat categories):

Dirty Sanchez (The Cardboard Village) 6 vs. Showdown (Trader Retreat) 4

RAMMSTEIN (Hobby Insider) 6 vs. San Antonio Sluggerz (Trader Retreat) 3 (with 1 tie)

TR's Week 2 opponents:

Hobby Kings’ C’MON SON! vs. Trader Retreat’s Showdown

Sports Card Forum’s Big Red Machine vs. Trader Retreat’s San Antonio Sluggerz

Week 2 of the Clash of the Trading Forums ends with Showdown in 3rd place of the Diamondheads division and leedawg62's San Antonio Sluggerz in 4th place of the Stadium Fantasium division. Here are their Week 3 matchups:

Showdown had his best week ever in the still-young Clash of the Trading Forums fantasy baseball league. He defeated my team to move from fourth place in the Diamondheads division into 2nd place, just a half-game out of first place.

Not so good news for leedawgz62's San Antonio Sluggerz; he got shut out by Stinkin Badges. His opponent for Week 5 is Showdown. May the best Trader Retreat mod win!

Wow! In Week 4, Showdown had his best week ever in the Clash of the Trading Forums fantasy baseball league. In Week 5, he handily defeated his opponent, 6-2 with 2 ties. Unfortunately, his opponent was fellow TR mod leedawgz62's San Antonio Sluggerz. Showdown's victory vaulted him into first place in the league's Diamondheads division.

Week 6 Matchups:

Sports Card Haven’s Stinking Badges vs. Trader Retreat’s Showdown (A great matchup between two first-place teams.)

League sponsor AtlantaSportsCards vs. Trader Retreat’s San Antonio Sluggerz (This is a huge opportunity for San Antonio Sluggerz to gain ground on first-place AtlantaSportsCards.)

We've reached the halfway point of the Clash of the Trading Forums fantasy baseball season on Yahoo. So far, Showdown's team and leedawg62's "San Antonio Sluggerz" team are in fourth place in their respective divisions. Here are their Week 12 matchups:

The regular season portion of the fantasy baseball season has ended and Showdown dramatically finished the season strong (winning five of the last seven weeks) to claim the final playoff spot. Congratulations Showdown! Now Showdown faces #1 playoff seed AtlantaSportsCards in the first round of the Clash of the Trading Forums playoffs.

Unfortunately, leedawg62's San Antonio Sluggerz did not make the playoffs. His team will be still be battling in the Consolation Round, which starts next week.

As for my team, Forum of Dreams, it claimed the #7 playoff spot. See how your favorite trading forumis doing as always on Andy Stadium.[/quote]

San Antonio Sluggerz was doing well, and I was not expecting such unexpected results, as it was my all time favorite. Anyhow it’s just a game why should I make myself upset.
