unfortunetly, shipping charges also include "handling" charges. In a lot of cases this charge is over inflated to cover ones investment, so small bids don't end up costing the seller money. I have encountered both examples in the past and have also found it a bad idea to leave negative feedback due to a retalitory one left for you. Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and never buy from the guy again. The only way I have found to prevent this is to check ones feedback to see if any reads "well packaged" or "arrived safely" or something to that effect. My advice would be to wait for him to leave feedback first, so he can't leave you negative feedback and then leave appropriate feedback for him to help others.
